Glenalmond Guest House: Access Statement
Introduction
Glenalmond Guest House is 1 mile from Gatwick Airport and offers 9 guest rooms – 3 of which are downstairs. The house is just over 100 years old and whilst we aim to meet the needs of all of
our guests there are some period features which might make access difficult for people with limited mobility. There are 2 low steps into the house and a small one between the hall and dining room,
and doors are narrow.
Arrival and Car Parking
Parking is on a level drive in the front of the house. We offer assistance with luggage.
Main Entrance
There is one step of 3 and a half inches up to the front door and a threshold of 7 inches into the house. The front door is 33 inches (84cm) wide.
Guest Accommodation - Public Areas:
Glenalmond offers large rooms and a large hall which leads into our conservatory where breakfast is served. This doorway is 26 inches (66cm) wide.
The hallway leads into a guest lounge. This doorway is 31 inches (79cm) wide.
There is a small step of 2 inches over the threshold from the hall into the dining room.
There are 15 steps, with hand rail, from the hallway to the first floor where 6 guest rooms are located. The stairs are carpeted.
There is a downstairs toilet that is made available to guests during the day / evening but all guest rooms are en-suite.
We have three guest bedrooms which are on the ground floor.
The house is centrally heated throughout.
Dining Room:
Breakfast is served in the dining room. Seating arrangements are flexible to facilitate ease of access for wheelchairs.
The dining room has a tiled floor.
Bedrooms
Three bedrooms are on the ground floor and are carpeted throughout.
There are en-suite facilities in all rooms consisting of a shower, WC and wash basin. One downstairs room also has a bath.
